If I bought Bitcoin in 2010 how much would it be worth now? That’s a typical question first time cryptocurrency investors ask themselves. In the beginning, it’s easy to think that crypto is a scam, especially when you don’t understand the technology and potential it holds. However, as soon as you realize that the technology might just change the world as we know it your eyes are opened. This happens even more when you realize the abnormal monetary gains people have experienced with Bitcoin (BTC) in the past.
In this article, I’m going to feed your Bitcoin fomo and show you just how much you missed out on not investing 8 years ago or even 1 year for that matter. We’ll look at different BTC price points and what a basic $100 investment would be worth today.
At the time of writing this article, the BTC price is $8122.79 since it’s still recovering from recent market corrections and bearish actions.
So, how much was Bitcoin worth in 2008, 2009 and up until 2017 and what would it be worth today (2018) if I invested $100 in it?)
Keep in mind that Bitcoin (read about its history here) was not traded during 2008 and 2009 so one could even say that its value was $0. However, in 2010 – that’s where all the fun started. Get ready for the regrets.
Obviously, the BTC price fluctuates, so according to the pricing information, I found the first recorded Bitcoin prices were on during August 2010 at a mere $0.07. For the following table, all prices will be around August.
|Year||BTC Price||If Bought 1 BTC How Much Would It Be Worth Now (2018)||
If Bought $100 In BTC How Much Would It Be Worth Now (2018)
That’s right, so if you invested only $100 in BTC during August 2010 you would be a millionaire today. And to be honest, during the January 2018 all-time highs your net worth would have doubled since Bitcoin reached $20000 value then.
Moral of the story? Don’t be too quick to judge new technology, take crypto serious and at least invest some money so that you don’t lose out completely. Just enough money that if you were to lose it, you won’t end up on the street.
Could you do without $100?
